Half Hollow Hills Research Symposium
The Half Hollow Hills Newsletter reports on the 2nd Annual Research Symposium.
The news about the extended research program in the Half Hollow Hills School District in Dix Hills continues to be upbeat and to report impressive results. About 130 students, grades 9-12, participated in the most recent Research Symposium (directed by Chrysi Notskas). Science, mathmatics, engineering and social studies are integrated into the program - which challenges students to enter their work into the nation’s most prestigious research competitions - such as the Intel Science Talent Search, Siemens Westinghouse competition, International Science and Engineering Fair, and Long Island Science and Engineering Fair. There have been many entrants from Half Hollow Hills who have been recognized for their achievements in these competitions - including Brett Harrison in 2006 who was named a semi-finalist in both the Siemans Westinghouse and Intel Science Talent Search competitions and Lester Wayne Mackey in 2003 who placed sixth in the Intel Science Talent Search competition.
